AEW Champion Sends Message To Tony Khan After Major Award Win

AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone recently won a major award.

A few days ago, Sports Illustrated announced the winners of its 2025 Pro Wrestling Awards. Tony Khan’s promotion dominated the list with 10 wins.

All Elite Wrestling won the Promotion of the Year. Hangman Adam Page took Male Wrestler of the Year for his redemption arc, while Mercedes Mone claimed Female Wrestler honors amid her multi-promotion run.

FTR won Tag Team, Will Ospreay dominated Best in the Ring, “Timeless” Toni Storm excelled on the mic, and Kyle Fletcher emerged as Breakout Star.

Storyline and Rivalry of the Year both went to Hangman Page’s saga with Jon Moxley, with Double or Nothing as the top show of the year.

Following the announcement, Tony Khan went on X to share joy and gratitude over this monumental accomplishment. He tweeted:

AEW Star Mercedes Mone Losing Her Championship Belt

Mercedes Mone recently dropped her RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship to Alex Windsor, ending her 346-day reign after four defenses.

It happened on the December 20 episode of Collision during Holiday Bash.​ The match was pre-taped in Manchester, UK.

This loss is part of a rough patch for the CEO, who peaked with 13 titles but started shedding belts recently.

She lost the ROH Women’s World Television Championship to Red Velvet at ROH Final Battle in early December 2025, just weeks after unifying it.

Her TBS Championship reign is still rolling on strong, though. She has been the TBS champion for over 563 days. She beat Willow Nightingale at Double or Nothing 2024 to win the title.
