AEW Champion Confirms Plans For Hollywood Switch
A popular AEW star is looking to branch out.
Powerhouse Hobbs has been working with AEW since 2020, and he’s widely regarded as a World Champion in waiting.
The star has already enjoyed a run with the TNT Championship and is currently one-third of the World Trios Champions after battling back from a major injury. Hobbs was most recently in action on the August 27 edition of Dynamite, where he successfully defended those titles alongside Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata.
However, while he’s enjoying life in the ring, Hobbs is already planning to launch a career in Hollywood.
In a newly published interview with Sean Ross Sapp, Hobbs confirmed that he’s looking to follow fellow AEW stars MJF and Samoa Joe into the acting world.
“Oh yeah, most definitely, man. Who doesn’t want to see me on the big screen or on their TV, besides you know, beating up people weekly? That’s definitely in the plan.”
Powerhouse Hobbs Shocked AEW Doctors
During the same interview, Powerhouse Hobbs looked back on his recovery from a torn patella tendon. Hobbs suffered the injury while challenging Jon Moxley for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in April 2024.
Despite the severity of the injury, Powerhouse Hobbs returned to the ring in early November. He went on to join forces with Samoa Joe, Hook, and Katsuyori Shibata as The Opps to battle the Death Riders.
The World Trios Champion recently explained that the injury usually keeps people out for between eight and 12 months.
