AEW Cancels Major Plans For Jay White After Injury

Jay White

It seems AEW had big plans in place for Jay White before he suffered an injury that has kept him out of the ring for months.

The last time AEW fans saw Jay White in action was back in March 2025 when he faced off with Kevin Knight on Collision. White was written off TV courtesy of a backstage attack at the hands of the Death Riders.

Jay White later confirmed he’s dealing with a broken hand. In a fired-up backstage interview, Switchblade took aim at Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley as he looked to the future. As a result of the injury, White was pulled from the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, but it seems his injury affected even greater plans.

Jay White Was Set To Join The Death Riders

Speaking on a Self Made Session on YouTube, a supposed insider calling himself Self Made Pro noted that AEW had to change tactics due to White’s injury, and he was originally set to betray Swerve Strickland and join the Death Riders:

Jay White was supposed to join the Death Riders and screw Swerve in his match against Jon Moxley if he hadn’t gotten injured. I’m talking about that exact match where Swerve got screwed by the Bucks, if I remember correctly, and then Moxley won. That was the moment.

Jay White was going to show up, turn heel, and align with the Death Riders. That was the plan. It wasn’t last-minute either—it had been planned for a month or two before that angle happened. Then White got hurt, and obviously everything changed.
