AEW Boss Tony Khan Addresses Ricky Starks Speculation

Ricky Starks AEW Smirk

Is Ricky Starks really on the verge of quitting AEW?

Ricky Starks hasn’t been seen on AEW television since March, and confusion around his absence has reigned supreme ever since. There were initially claims the star had suffered an injury, but these were rebuffed by the man himself.

Although Tony Khan has claimed in interviews that he’d like to use the star, elsewhere, Ricky Starks expressed frustration with his situation, admitting he has “no clue” when he’ll be called upon again.

Meanwhile, it’s been claimed in several different reports that WWE is interested in Starks, and he’s expected to join the company when his current deal expires. That is, if some online have claimed, his contract hasn’t already expired.

Ricky Starks Staying With AEW – For Now

During a media call ahead of AEW All In, Tony Khan was asked about Starks and the increasing speculation around the star by Sports Illustrated’s Rick Ucchino. Khan again talked up Starks, before confirming he remains under contract with AEW.

“Ricky has been a great star in AEW, been a champion here, and has had great matches here. I think very highly of Ricky. He’s somebody that has been here for several years and he’s under contract in AEW. He’s a well-regarded wrestler here in AEW,”

Despite his AEW absence, Starks most recently wrestled at an independent event on May 31st.
