AEW Has Been A “Beacon Of Hope” For Mercedes Mone

Mercedes Mone poses on AEW Dynamite

Mercedes Mone is thankful she found AEW.

On March 13, 2024, Mercedes Mone finally made her long-awaited AEW debut and she hasn’t looked back.

Over the following year, Mone captured the TBS Championship before adding the NJPW Strong Women’s Title, and RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship. The star has remained undefeated in singles action, picking up her most recent win over Billie Starkz on the March 19 edition of Dynamite.

In short, Mone is at the very top of her game.

Writing in the latest edition of her Mone Mag, the star looked back at her first year in AEW, writing that the promotion reignited her passion for professional wrestling.

“Can you believe it? It’s been a year since I embarked on this incredible journey with AEW! Time truly does fly, and I can confidently say this has been one of the most transformative years of my career. AEW has reignited my fire, passion, and deep-seated love for this sport. It has been a beacon of hope for me, and I am endlessly grateful to AEW and Tony Khan for this opportunity!

I am privileged to share the ring with the absolute best women in the world—strong, fierce competitors who push me to elevate my game day in and day out. And let’s not forget the men; their relentless drive inspires me to strive for greatness beyond compare.”

Mercedes Mone Heading For Date With Athena

Following her win over Billie Starkz it was reported that Mercedes Mone could be heading for a showdown with Athena as early as Dynasty on April 6.

Athena is the longest-reigning ROH Champion of all time, having held the Women’s Title for a remarkable 834 days. The star made the most recent defence of her title in February when she picked up a win over La Catalina.

Although the two long-reigning champions have shared the ring on several occasions, they’ve never wrestled one-on-one.
