AEW Battle of The Belts VII Results, Weather Issue Leads To Technical Difficulties
The results are in for AEW Battle of the Belts VII, which unfortunately some technical difficulties during the show as well.
The seventh AEW Battle of Belts event took place on July 14th in Calgary immediately following Collision. It was a one hour event that featured three championship matches.
Match #1:Orange Cassidy defeated Lance Archer by countout to retain the International Championship.
A rare countout win in AEW as Orange Cassidy punched Lance Archer off the apron while they were exchanging strikes on the apron. After Orange punched Archer, Orange went back into the ring and won by countout.
The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) and “Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn were interviewed in the ring by Tony Schavione. It was announced during the promo that The Acclaimed & Gunn will face House of Black for the AEW Trios Tag Team Titles next week on Collision.
Match #2: Toni Storm defeated Taya Valkyrie to retain the AEW Women’s Title.
It was another competitive match that was hurt by the technical difficulties. According to the F4WOnline, the finish of the match wasn’t shown and the technical difficulties lasted around ten minutes.
“Towards the end of the AEW Women’s Championship match between Toni Storm and Taya Valkyrie, AEW’s feed fizzled out, eventually leaving a black screen. In the US, TNT went to commercials after around 10 seconds. After commercials, a few minutes of last week’s Collision aired before the feed eventually returned. Overall, the situation lasted under ten minutes.”
“Announcer Ian Riccaboni on commentary said that due to severe thunderstorms in Calgary, the location for Saturday’s AEW programming, the satellite feed died out.”

The finish of the match was shown later in the broadcast. Ruby Soho did a cheap shot punch to Valkyrie, which the referee didn’t see. That led to Storm hitting Storm Zero for the pinfall win.

There was a presentation of the Men’s & Women’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament trophies and championships. Dr. Martha Hart presented the trophy and championship to Men’s Winner Ricky Starks and Women’s WInner Willow Nightingale.
Match #3: Luchasaurus defeated Shawn Spears to retain the TNT Championship.
Shawn Spears put up a fight and tried to overcome the big dinosaur, but thanks in part to some distractions from Christian Cage, Luchasaurus found a way to retain the TNT Championship. Luchasaurus hit a lariat to the back of the head for the pinfall win.
That was it for Battle of the Belts VII. No title changes on this show.
