AEW Announcer To Make In-Ring Return At Double Or Nothing
A British wrestling legend will return to the ring at AEW Double or Nothing.
It’s been announced that Nigel McGuinness will return to the ring for just his fourth match since being forced into retirement back in 2011.
On the May 14 edition of Dynamite, Daniel Garcia told McGuinness he would be battling FTR with or without him. This brought out Stokely Hathaway, but he was nothing but a diversion, allowing FTR to attack. In the end, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler were chased off by Daddy Magic and a crowbar.
On Collision, it was confirmed that McGuinness will indeed team with Garcia at Double or Nothing.
The match will be McGuninness’ first since he challenged Lee Moriarty for the ROH Pure Championship at Final Battle on December 20, 2024.
Elsewhere, it was confirmed that Mark Briscoe will face Ricochet in a Stretcher Match, and the Hurt Syndicate will defend the World Tag Team Championship against The Sons of Texas.
AEW Collision Hit By Problems
The May 18 episode of AEW Collision abruptly ended 30 minutes early due to technical difficulties. The TNT feed on the East and West coasts was cut off, while fans watching on Max were met with a message reading “This event has ended.”
This meant that fans didn’t get to see Wheeler Yuta vs. Powerhouse Hobbs, and Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara vs. Action Andretti & Lio Rush. The episode was taped on May 14 following Dynamite.
