AEW Announce Grand Slam Date & Location
AEW Grand Slam is returning in September.
Since 2021, AEW has held an annual event at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. The taping has traditionally featured a live episode of Dynamite, with Rampage taped afterward.
The World Championship clash between Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega headlined the first Grand Slam event, with the bout ending in a time-limit draw. The match was Danielson’s first since leaving WWE earlier that year.
12 months later, Danielson came up short for a second time in the main event, this time losing to Jon Moxley who claimed the vacant World Championship. The event also featured the AEW debut of Saraya.
In 2023, MJF beat Samoa Joe to retain the AEW World Title, but the match is probably more well-remembered for Adam Cole suffering a broken ankle while trying to help the champion. Following the injury, Cole is yet to return to the ring.
AEW Grand Slam Confirmed
During AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door it was announced Grand Slam 2024 will take place on September 25th at Arthur Ashe Stadium. However, in a change from previous years, the event will feature a taping for Collision instead of Rampage.
The official pre-sale will begin on July 16th, with general sale beginning on July 18th. A limited pre-sale is already underway for fans who attended Forbidden Door.
It’s also been announced a second Forbidden Door event titled Wrestle Dynasty will take place in the Tokyo Dome on January 5th.
