AEW Star Admits They Cried Watching WWE Backlash
Backlash was a special night for several WWE stars in Puerto Rico with one entrance leaving AEW star Thunder Rosa in tears.
At WWE Backlash, Zelina Vega had the whole island of Puerto Rico behind her as she challenged Rhea Ripley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Vega was in tears as the match began due to the overwhelming support for her but in the end, Ripley proved to be much for her and left Puerto Rico heartbroken by retaining her title.
The fans did have plenty to cheer about later in the night as Bad Bunny represented the island as he defeated Damian Priest in a wild San Juan Street Fight.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, former AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa has admitted that Vega’s entrance at Backlash left her in tears:
“When Zelina Vega came out I really cried. People have been able to represent their countries and represent their cultures in such a positive way… It was such a beautiful moment.
“Every time I watch it I cry. I don’t know if I will ever get to do something as big as that.”
Thunder Rosa recently returned to AEW television for the first time in several months ahead of the company potentially announcing its new Saturday night show.
