AEW Confirms 12 Wrestlers Competing In Anarchy In The Arena Match
AEW has finally revealed the wrestlers involved in the Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing.
At the end of AEW Dynamite on May 14th, Swerve Strickland officially announced that there would be an Anarchy in the Arena Match at the Double or Nothing PPV in Phoenix on March 25th.
Swerve Strickland’s announcement of Anarchy in the Arena wasn’t surprising since it has become a staple at the Double or Nothing PPV over the years. Most years, it’s a 5-on-5 tag team match, but AEW ended Dynamite without clarifying who would be in the match.
AEW Dynamite in Albuquerque featured a six-man tag team match with World Champion Jon Moxley teaming up with The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas) against Swerve, Samoa Joe, and Powerhouse Hobbs.
The six-man tag team match was chaotic, as usual in AEW. Swerve avoided an EVP Trigger by the Bucks, Joe applied the Coquina Clutch to Nick and Swerve rolled up Nick and sat on top for the pinfall win.
There was a wild post match brawl involving the guys in the match, along with Katsuyori Shibata, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta. Marina Shafir, who is an ally of Moxley, gave Shibata a low blow uppercut. Willow Nightingale went down to the ring and hit a Spear on Shafir. Kenny Omega saved his Double or Nothing partners by beating up Yuta, Claudio, and Matt Jackson. Claudio saved Matt from Omega trying to put Matt through a table.
AEW Graphic Reveals Anarchy In The Arena Will Be 6-On-6 Tag Team Match
Later on Dynamite in Albuquerque, a graphic revealed that the Anarchy in the Arena Match will be a 6-on-6 tag team match at Double or Nothing.
The heel team will see the Death Riders trio of World Champion Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta team up with the Young Bucks duo of Matthew and Nicholas Jackson. Marina Shafir of The Death Riders will also join them.
On the babyface team, International Champion Kenny Omega leads the way, joined by Swerve Strickland and Trios Tag Team Champions known as The Opps – Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs & Katsuyori Shibata. That team will be joined by Willow Nightingale, who recently signed a new AEW contract.
The confirmation by AEW is a welcome sight for fans who had been wondering for a week who was in the Anarchy in the Arena match.
