The Advice AEW’s Jim Ross Has For WWE’s Newest Commentator

Jim Ross has backed new WWE signing Joe Tessitore.

On September 2nd, Joe Tessitore called the action on Monday Night Raw for the first time. The former ESPN man teamed with Wade Barrett as Michael Cole moved across to SmackDown.

Speaking after the show, Tessitore was critical of his own performance claiming his debut “wasn’t great” but suggested he’d played the role of a passionate fan.

By taking up the play-by-play spot at the announce desk, Tessitore follows in the footsteps of not only Cole but commentary legend Jim Ross. JR initially signed with WWE in 1993 and despite several rocky periods, he went on call many of the most famous moments in company history.

On a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast, Ross gave his thoughts on Tessitore’s debut, and what advice he’d give moving forward.

“Wrestling fans are picky with their announcing. They know what they like, what they don’t like. When you mispronounce somebody’s name or you say the wrong name, whatever, we act like it’s a federal crime, and it isn’t, it’s human error, and this game is done by humans the last I looked.”

“Tessitore’s got great experience, he’ll do a good job. The one thing that I’m waiting on is to see how much product knowledge that he has acquired since he made his deal with WWE. But he is a good addition, no doubt, he is a good addition to their team.”

“Tessitore will be good there. All he’s gotta do is listen to his partner (Wade Barrett). It sounds simplistic, it sounds overly simplistic perhaps to some, but all he’s got to do is connect the dots between he and his partner, and let it roll. Have some fun and don’t overthink it.”

Jim Ross Calls For WWE Firing

Although he’s fully behind Joe Tessitore, Jim Ross has called for a WWE figure to be fired after a behind-the-scenes photo was shared on social media.

The photo in question showed several WWE Superstars talking in the ring and going through their matches ahead of Raw. In response to the leak, Ross called it unprofessional and said the person responsible should be fired.
