Adam Page Lied To Himself About AEW World Title Win

Hangman Adam Page AEW World Champion

Adam Page has opened up about the mental anguish of life with the AEW World Title.

At Full Gear 2021, Adam Page pinned Kenny Omega to claim the AEW World Championship. The victory represented the end of an emotional journey for Page who defied expectations to finally reach the top of the mountain.

The star held the gold for 197 days, eventually losing it to CM Punk as part of a bitter rivalry that got too real for all involved.

In a new interview with Paste Magazine, Page looked ahead to All In 2024, his feud with Swerve Strickland, and spell at the top of the AEW mountain. With regard to his World Title win, Page said he lied to himself to make his dream come true.

It was the crowning achievement of my career, one of the crowning achievements of my life. And the night that I won it, I said that. I told myself a lot of lies on the way to earning it. I told myself that I wasn’t good enough, that I would never have it.

Those all turned out to be lies. I wanted to tell myself one last lie, and that lie would be that I would hold it until the day that I died. And I wish, looking back, that that wouldn’t have been a lie. I wish that would have been the truth.
