Why Adam Copeland Was Written Off AEW TV Revealed
An update has been provided regarding what’s next for AEW’s Adam Copeland.
The best friend team of Adam Copeland & Christian Cage got a big win when they beat FTR at AEW All Out in their hometown of Toronto. However, there was more to the story after the match.
After the match, Kip Sabian showed up and handcuffed Adam’s hand to the ropes. Mother Wayne and Nick Wayne were by the entrance. FTR attacked Cage and hit him with a spike piledriver. Beth Copeland (Adam’s wife, who wrestling fans know as WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix) kissed Cope and tried to fight the FTR guys. Unfortunately for Beth, FTR hit a spike piledriver on Beth while Adam was handcuffed to the ropes, and couldn’t help his wife. FTR left to massive boos.
On AEW Dynamite in Pittsburgh, they showed Adam Copeland and Christian Cage talking after AEW All Out when FTR hit a piledriver on Cope’s wife, Beth. Cope said he can’t keep doing this because it’s affecting his family, and it has happened before. Cope said that he had to leave, and he’s not sure if he will be back. Cage said he doesn’t have a family anymore, so Cope should take care of his. Cope said you do have a family, and they shook hands as if Cope was saying they were like family. Cope left.
Following that segment airing on Dynamite, it led to many people speculating that perhaps Copeland was done in AEW after two years in the company, and maybe a WWE return for one more match with old rival, John Cena.
While one more Edge-Cena match may make a lot of fans happy, it appears unlikely to happen at this point.
Adam Copeland Is Taking An AEW Break For Acting Duties
According to PWInsider Elite, Copeland’s decision to leave AEW for now is reportedly due to his filming commitments for the new season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” on Disney+. Copeland portrays the role of Ares, the God of War, on the hit show.
Deadline reported that production for season 3 of Percy Jackson started in late August.
John Cena recently paid tribute to his old rival Edge by doing some hand motions before hitting a Spear in a match. Copeland responded with a Cena-like Five Knuckle Shuffle tribute to his good friend.
