Adam Copeland Compares Darby Allin To Former WWE Champions
Adam Copeland thinks Darby Allin is similar in some ways to two former WWE Champions.
Since his AEW debut at the WrestleDream PPV earlier this month, Adam Copeland has been on opposite sides from his best friend Christian Cage, who is the TNT Champion. At WrestleDream, the main event of that show saw Christian retain the TNT Title by beating Darby Allin in 2 out of 3 Falls Match.
After the match, Copeland saved Darby Allin and his mentor Sting from a Conchairto for the Stinger, which made Copeland an ally of Sting & Allin immediately upon his AEW debut.
During his short time working for AEW, Copeland clearly has been impressed by Allin, whom he complimented a lot in a recent interview.
Darby Allin reminds Adam Copeland of two WWE legends
When it comes to Darby Allin, AEW fans know he’s as fearless as it gets. Allin is willing to take any bump and do just about anything to put on a show for the fans who love him.
During a recent appearance on Chris Jericho’s Talk Is Jericho podcast, Copeland explained why Allin reminds him of former WWE Champions Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio, who is already a WWE Hall of Famer as well.
“A guy like Darby. I know he’s already a lynchpin to this place and is one of the foundations, but that guy, he’s special. I told him this and I meant it with the utmost respect because sometimes when you compare to other people…it’s just natural to compare.”
“I was like, ‘You’re Rey Mysterio with Jeff Hardy splashed all over you.’ That’s awesome. He does (have the x-factor). He has that thing. He knows how to sell. How to be aggressive, when to be aggressive, it’s fun to see. Meeting him, seeing his attitude, I really think that guy is special.”
Adam Copeland had his debut match in AEW on last night’s episode of Dynamite. In the main event of the show, Copeland defeated Luchasaurus with a Spear for the pinfall win.
