Why Adam Copeland Changed His Mind On AEW World Title
Adam Copeland has his mind on the AEW World Title after not showing interest in it in the past.
During his AEW career so far, Adam Copeland is a two-time TNT Champion who has competed against some of the best wrestlers that AEW has to offer.
In his last match at May’s Double or Nothing PPV, Adam Copeland beat Malakai Black in a chaotic Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match that saw Copeland suffer a broken leg after a crazy leap off the top of the cage. Copeland hasn’t wrestled since that match.
At the conclusion of the AEW Worlds End PPV, Adam Copeland returned to television standing beside his friends FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) as they fought off Jon Moxley’s Death Riders group.
Copeland spoke at the post-AEW Worlds End media scrum about how he wants to win the AEW World Title from Moxley.
“If you can think about gold, that’s what we’re going after. I think [FTR] should be tag team champions, I think we should win the trios championships, I’m going after the world heavyweight championship.
For a while, when I first got here, I was like, ‘Okay, I’m here, I’ve got to get the lay of the land. I have to get everybody to know who I am.’ That’s gone. Now it’s time to be here and to make a difference, to show everybody exactly who I am and exactly who [FTR] are. There is a reason I’ve accomplished everything I’ve accomplished in this industry and there is a reason that nobody can scratch what I’ve accomplished. Take a look, nobody can. That may sound egotistical and cocky, but when it’s true, it’s just confidence.”
Adam Copeland Has A Plan For Jon Moxley
When Adam Copeland says nobody can scratch what he accomplished, he means it because, in his WWE career as Edge, he won 31 different championships. That includes holding the WWE or World Title a total of 11 times.
“My plan is to go after Jon Moxley in a match that you’ve never seen before between two guys who are at the top of their field and go out there and do what we do, which is to have kick-ass old, grinding, gritty, NWA World Heavyweight Title matches-type vibe.
That’s what I want to get out of him. That’s what I’m looking forward to. It’s going to happen sooner than later.”
AEW announced that at Dynamite Fight For the Fallen on New Year’s Day, it will be Rated FTR against the Death Riders of Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta in a huge match that will be Copeland’s first match in over seven months.
