Adam Cole’s First Opponent Since Injury Confirmed
Adam Cole now knows who he will face in his first match back in AEW for nine months after the star was out with serious concussion issues.
Cole last competed in an AEW ring back in June 2022 when he competed in a four-way match at Forbidden Door for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Adam Page, Kazuchika Okada, and Jay White. That match came one month after Cole suffered an injury during his Double Or Nothing bout with Samoa Joe, and further concussion issues from the Forbidden Door bout led to the lengthy layoff.
On the 11th of January edition of AEW Dynamite, Adam Cole returned to television but until now, it was unknown when he’d be able to compete again but now his in-ring return has been confirmed.
On Dynamite in Independence, MO Cole took to the ring to reveal he’d be competing on the following week’s Dynamite and was about to announce his opponent when he was interrupted by The Jericho Appreciation Society’s Daniel Garcia.
Garcia engaged Cole in a back-and-forth and eventually asked the former NXT Champion what made him special, in a comment that harkens back to his NXT days and a famous promo standing across from Karrion Kross, Cole told Garcia “when the bell rings, that’s what makes me special.”
The match was then set for the 29th of March edition of Dynamite where Adam Cole will return to the ring to take on Garcia.
