Adam Cole Returns At WrestleDream To Confront Top AEW Star

Adam Cole entrance AEW WrestleDream

Adam Cole is back for revenge.

With speculation running wild about his future, Adam Cole finally returned to confront an old friend at WrestleDream

Cole had been essentially out of action since suffering a broken ankle while coming to the aid of MJF at Grand Slam in 2023. Despite the injury, Cole remained a regular presence on AEW television and was eventually revealed to be The Devil who had been targeting MJF at Worlds End, confirming his heel turn.

With the Undisputed Kingdom now in effect, Cole took some time off to heal up, making a brief return at Double or Nothing, where he was attacked by MJF.

The former NXT star then took another break to continue his recovery, however, he was spotted at recent AEW events walking unaided, sparking rumours that a comeback was imminent.

Adam Cole Is Back Bay-Bay

At WrestleDream those rumours were proven to be true as Cole returned to a monster ovation from the crowd, even if his actions left fans a little confused.

Following the TNT Title match between Jack Perry and Katsuyori Shibata, the former attacked the Japanese star, but help was at hand. Daniel Garcia ran in to make the save and he was quickly nose to nose with Perry but the champion shook his head and walked away.

This brought out MJF who was making his own return having been left broken by Garcia at All Out. Sensing an opportunity, Perry returned and smashed Garcia with the TNT Title. MJF then ran down Garcia as he tried to gather himself, putting on his Dynamite Diamond Ring, and telling fans Garcia was going to kiss it.

Adam Cole’s music then hit and despite MJF mocking him for not being able to run, the star sprinted to the ring, very much a babyface. As MJF ran for the hills, Nigel McGuinness on commentary declared that this was just the beginning.

To cement his apparent babyface turn, Adam Cole was one of the stars to come to the aid of Bryan Danielson and Darby Allin at the end of a wild main event. Before a monumental beatdown ensued leaving Danielson again in need of a stretcher, Jon Moxley beat the American Dragon to claim the AEW World Title.

The defeat and subsequent attack brought Bryan Danielson’s full-time career to an end.
