Adam Cole Reportedly In Demand On The Main Roster
Despite speculation linking him with a move away from the company, Adam Cole is reportedly in high demand on WWE’s main roster.
Adam Cole held a “high-level meeting” with Vince McMahon backstage at August 6th episode of SmackDown to address his future. The former NXT Champion’s contract expired in July and he was been working under a verbal agreement ever since.
The short-term deal is set to take the NXT Superstar through SummerSlam weekend, which includes NXT TakeOver: 36 on August 22nd.
Following the meeting, Fightful Select reports that talks “went well” between the two parties. McMahon reportedly took a liking to Cole on a personal level.
Fightful note that there have been pitches made for Cole to appear on RAW and SmackDown should he re-sign with WWE. It was communicated to Cole that he is wanted on the main roster.
Adam Cole signed for WWE in 2017, joining NXT alongside Kyle O’Reilly and the now released Bobby Fish. The trio dubbed ‘The Undisputed Era’ quickly set about dominating the black and gold brand. The group won the NXT Tag Team Titles on three occasions while Cole also captured the North American and NXT Championships.
The group eventually split in February 2021 with Cole turning on O’Reilly at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day. This led to an Unsanctioned Match between the pair at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, which O’Reilly won. The two later met again at the Great American Bash, where Cole prevailed.
With both men currently holding one win over the over the other, it has been speculated that they will meet for a third time at NXT TakeOver: 36. This ties into a report which suggested that Cole agreed to work through SummerSlam weekend in order to put O’Reilly over.
