Adam Cole Needed Implant After Sickening AEW Injury

Adam Cole has detailed his long road to recovery.

After being on the sidelines for most of 2024, Adam Cole made his triumphant return to AEW at WrestleDream, making the save for Daniel Garcia who was about to be attacked by MJF.

Cole last wrestled at All Out in September 2023, back when he and MJF were ‘brochachos’ and the reigning ROH World Tag Team Champions. Later that month, the star came to the aid of MJF as he defended the AEW World Title from Samoa Joe. Unfortunately, Cole shattered his foot as he ran to the ring.

Speaking to The Takedown on SI about the freak injury, Cole said it was part of being an athlete.

“Ankles and shoulders are the two things with athletes where it can make no sense whatsoever. Every now and then, there are freak accidents or freak incidents that happen.”

While he says he knew his ankle was in bad shape, he didn’t find out just how bad the injury was until after the first surgery.

“The first piece of news that I heard was, your ankle is way worse than we anticipated. You have to get another surgery in seven days. So, not only did I have to get double the amount of screws in my ankle, but also, I had to get someone else’s bone put into my ankle because the bone piece within my ankle just completely disintegrated.”

Cole is thankful to the family of the cadaver bone’s donor, saying it was a much better option than a metal plate, which could limit his range of motion.

“Incredibly thankful to [the donor] and the family. It’s certainly a better option. I definitely notice a difference in my left ankle as opposed to my right one, but I think that comes with the territory.”

The star believes that after his recovery, he will still be able to do everything he did before in the ring.

“I still feel like I can be Adam Cole and do the things that I wanna do. And I’m certainly not even close to wanting to be done with wrestling.”

With the two now firmly on opposite sides, Adam Cole appeared on Dynamite to promise MJF the “beating of a lifetime.”

Adam Cole Confirms Split With Britt Baker

After months of speculation, Adam Cole has confirmed that he and Britt Baker are no longer a couple. The star explained that the two are still friends and he hopes for the best for Baker, saying the two simply decided to go their separate ways. He also asked that fans not pick sides and doesn’t want anyone to think they dislike each other.
