Adam Cole Confident About Major AEW Rivalry

Adam Cole AEW

Adam Cole believes rekindling his rivalry with MJF is the right thing to do for business.

The duo were in the middle of an intriguing storyline that saw them capture the ROH World Tag Team Championship and battle for the AEW World Championship on the same night with a huge crowd on hand at London’s Wembley Stadium for AEW All In 2023.

Less than four weeks later, however, Cole suffered a devastating ankle injury during the 20th September 2023 edition of Dynamite that would ultimately see the 35 year-old star undergo major surgery in an attempt to save his career.

Having been absent for the majority of 2024, Adam Cole made his long-awaited return to AEW at WrestleDream, saving Daniel Garcia from a vicious assault by MJF. Cole is once again on a collision course with MJF and the star fully supports the decision by AEW creative.

Speaking during a recent appearance on The Danny Ocean Show, the former NXT Champion explained why he feels the long-standing rivalry deserves a definitive conclusion:

“I think truth be told, when you look back at that six months that me and MJF had and the chemistry that we had, in a lot of ways, we kind of caught lightning in a bottle to the point where it did main event All In, which was really cool, and the unfortunate injury that happened, I just feel that the story that me and MJF told needs a definitive conclusion.

I feel like it’s fair to the angle, it’s fair to the program that, coming back from injury, that’s exactly what I’m hopping into. Of course, you want to make as many people happy as possible. Then sometimes too with stories, it takes a little bit to get back to where you were because a lot of the stuff that we did was very slow-burn.

So I’m confident in what we’re gonna bring to the table, I’m confident in what we’re gonna do, and I do think that us continuing this story with me coming back from injury was the right call, I do.”
