A long-time absent AEW star isn’t happy.

Ricky Starks wrestled his most recent match for AEW back in March, and at the time there were rumours he’d suffered an injury. However, when the man himself made it clear he was fit to wrestle, it was reported he turned down several pitches to return.

Although he has stayed largely quiet on the speculation, in September, the AEW star fired back at the idea he’d refused any pitches to return to work.

Starks later reiterated that he’s prepared to wrestle, but an AEW comeback isn’t up to him.

Ricky Starks Airs Out AEW Frustration

In the hours before Full Gear, Starks made a surprise appearance at a GCW event in The American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The AEW star interrupted a promo from Jimmy Lloyd who joked that he was supposed to be in catering up the street. In response, Starks opened up about his professional frustration and desire to get back to work.

“I think everyone wants a statement from Ricky Starks, huh? Well, the statement is I’m standing right here in the middle of a GCW ring.

Passion runs through my blood, and I will be damned if I sit at home and I get frozen out. I’ll be damned if I sit at home and let my career dwindle. I am 34 years old. I’m healthy. I am goddamn good looking, and most importantly, I am a generational superstar.

I’m going to come back to where I came from in the very beginning. And why not start in one of the hottest promotions right now, GCW?”

Lloyd attempted to get some revenge for the interruption with a sneak attack, but Starks responded with a Spear.

Following the appearance it was announced that Starks will meet Matt Cardona at GCW Highest In The Room 3 on December 14th. This is the second independent booking Starks has taken in recent days after it was revealed he’ll debut with House of Glory Wrestling on January 17th.
