Absent AEW Star Roasts MJF Over Backstage Incident With Britt Baker
A former opponent of MJF took a shot at the AEW American Champion regarding a recent backstage incident.
There has been a lot of chatter of late in AEW about a backstage incident that led to Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. getting suspended due to an argument with MJF. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter initially reported the story while noting that AEW’s disciplinary committee decided that Baker’s actions were worth a suspension.
Britt Baker was suspended for either one or two weeks and fined by the company’s disciplinary committee. Details have been kept pretty quiet. It came from something backstage at the 7/17 Dynamite where Baker allegedly said something about MJF and Alicia Atout, MJF’s girlfriend heard it and told him and he confronted Baker.
This led to an investigation with HR talking to people on 7/24 and I believe the disciplinary committee that did the investigation recommended that. I don’t know if Tony Khan was or wasn’t involved in this and everyone was attempting to keep this under wraps.
This all stems from problems in the past that weren’t addressed and a committee was put together to settle these things quickly. Most of those we heard from were sympathetic to her in this situation.
It was also reported by As reported by Fightful Select that Baker “exercised frustration about MJF within the women’s locker room” and when MJF’s girlfriend Alicia Atout heard about it, she spoke to MJF, who ended up confronting Baker about her comments.
The report from Fightful went on to say that MJF actually punched a wall due to the situation and Will Ospreay stepped in as a peacemaker of sorts.
AEW’s Ricky Starks Fires Shot At MJF
Ricky Starks has worked for AEW for several years now and has wrestled MJF numerous times including when Friedman was the AEW World Champion. Starks, who hasn’t wrestled in AEW since March 30th (over four months ago), did a tweet and delete taking a shot at MJF, who was promoting his match in CMLL. Starks wrote:
“I think they talking about you and Britt tbh”
As mentioned previously, Starks went on to delete the comment toward Friedman.
MJF is set to defend the AEW American Championship against Will Ospreay at AEW All In on August 25th. Before he gets there, Friedman will face Ospreay’s best friend Kyle Fletcher this Wednesday on the August 7th edition of Dynamite.
