Abandoned Young Bucks Storyline Might Be Coming To WWE
Despite being firmly part of AEW, an abandoned Young Bucks storyline could be heading to WWE thanks to The Hardys.
WWE and TNA have confirmed a partnership that has seen talents exchanged between TNA and NXT over the past few months. Iconic tag team The Hardys returned to WWE where they picked up a win on NXT before they were confronted by the reigning NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazer and Axiom.
That led to TNA’s Director of Authority making a huge match between the teams but only The Hardys TNA Tag Team Championship will be on the line when they clash at Roadblock on March 11.
Now there has been some suggestion this could be the start of a storyline that had to be abandoned almost a decade ago where The Hardys and The Young Bucks were set to trade their respective company’s titles.
The Young Bucks & The Hardys Swap Titles?
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained what was originally meant to happen between The Hardys and The Young Bucks before The Hardys’ time in TNA turned sour and they ultimately returned to WWE:
When The Hardys – and this goes back 8 years – went back to WWE 8 years ago at WrestleMania, they were in TNA and they went to back, they had worked out a year-long program with The Young Bucks that was going to take place in Ring of Honor and TNA where The Young Bucks were gonna get the TNA Tag Team Title at one point and have both.
The Hardys would then win the Ring of Honor Tag Title and they did at one point then lost them back in that ladder match. But they were gonna go back and forth with each team having the other company’s belts so I just wonder if they’re gonna do that program that they never got to do here.
Matt and Jeff Hardy were ROH Tag Team Champions going into Supercard of Honor XI on April 1 2017 when they faced The Young Bucks in a ladder match. The Bucks won the title and the very next night saw The Hardys return to WWE at WrestleMania 33 where they immediately captured the Raw Tag Team Championship in another ladder match.
