A “Civil War” Allegedly Started On WWE RAW
Friends betraying friends, siblings betraying siblings, is a common theme in WWE.
A veteran superstar of the Stamford-based company has claimed that a new civil war has begun, this time between three Irish wrestlers.
Last week’s RAW taping featured a 20-man battle royal match to determine the challenger for CM Punk at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLI on November 1.
During the bout, The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and JD McDonagh were eliminated by Sheamus. But their interference led to Sheamus’ elimination, creating friction between them.
The Celtic Warrior was none too happy about the turn of events, resulting in him challenging either member for a singles match on the latest RAW episode. McDonagh stepped up.
WWE RAW Match Leads To Civil War
JD McDonagh has been hard to overlook in recent times for WWE.
Not only has he been featured regularly on the red brand, but a few weeks ago, he competed in a fatal four way match for the AAA Latin American Title at the Worlds Collide event in Las Vegas.
The 35-year-old was sour about losing the tag team championships to AJ Styles and Dragon Lee last week, and with the intent to prove himself worthy, accepted Sheamus’ challenge.
Again, McDonagh put on an impressive fight against his compatriot, with his tag team partner Finn Balor by the ringside.
Balor made his presence felt during the bout, hitting Sheamus with his shillelagh when the referee was distracted.
McDonagh capitalized on the moment and hit his 47-year-old opponent with a Spanish Fly before pinning him for the win.
After the match, Sheamus made his thoughts known about entering a rivalry with his countrymen.
He credited JD for his efforts, but accused Balor of starting the “civil war.”
Credit to JD. He won the battle. But Finn started a Civil War. pic.twitter.com/9tXVv6faLE
