71-Year-Old WWE Legend Vows To Wrestle Until He Dies
It might have been Ric Flair who said he’d never retire, but it seems it’s another former WWE star who really means it.
It was in late 2007 that Vince McMahon gave Ric Flair an on-screen ultimatum to hang up the boots for good, but The Nature Boy would not bend. Flair screamed that he’d never retire, and McMahon made clear that he’d allow that as long as Flair kept winning. Ric Flair ultimately had his final WWE match at WrestleMania 24, where he finally lost to Shawn Michaels.
But in wrestling, nobody ever retires. And sure enough, Flair was back in the ring the following year. Ultimately, Flair had his final match in 2022.
Ex-WWE Star Will Keep Going Until He Drops
Now, a former WWE Tag Team Champion has discussed his own plans for retirement, or lack thereof.
Speaking to the Portland Press Herald, 71-year-old Tony Atlas was asked how long he plans to keep competing in the ring, and for Atlas, he won’t stop until he’s dead:
Until I die. I work out every day. I go to the (YMCA). I’m there just about every morning. It built my life. I don’t know how to do anything else. The only other thing other than wrestling I know how to do is personal training and draw.
Tony Atlas began his career in 1975, and since then, the WWE Hall of Famer has had a match in every one of the following fifty years, including 2025.
