62-Year-Old Star Retires In The Shadow Of John Cena
While the spotlight was on John Cena’s long goodbye from WWE, a second-generation star also hung up their boots.
John Cena’s time as an active WWE star came to an end at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Cena took on Gunther in the final match of his illustrious career as a raucous Washington, D.C. crowd paid their own tribute to the seventeen-time WWE Champion.
However, that same crowd was left severely deflated when Cena simply tapped out while locked in Gunther’s sleeper hold with a smile on his face, seemingly resigned to the fact that he now had nothing to fight for and could simply give up.
Such was the outrage at the finish that the crowd showered Triple H with “You f*cked up” chants when he led the WWE locker room to the ring to pay their own tribute to Cena.
While all of the attention has been on Cena, another wrestling legend has also hung up their boots.
John Cena Lost His Last Match; El Hijo Del Santo Won His
62-year-old Mexican star El Hijo del Santo had the last match of his illustrious career on the same day as John Cena. While Cena lost out in his last bout, Santo won his final match, where he teamed with LA Park and Ultimo Dragon to defeat Dr Wagner Jr., El Hijo del Fishman, and El Texano Jr.
El Hijo del Santo is the son of perhaps the biggest wrestling star of all time, El Santo. El Santo was a cultural phenomenon in Mexico, starring in movies as well as competing in the ring.
