6-Time WWE World Champion May Retire After 2026
Next year could be the last before WWE legend hangs up his boots.
Chris Jericho is rumored to return to the Stamford-based company after a six-year run in AEW. The former AEW World Champion has been off television for several months, with reports suggesting his contract expires on December 31.
Speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts predicted that the wrestling legend will return to WWE TV in the new year. The 42-year-old even suggested that the six-time world champion could feud with LA Knight or AJ Styles upon his comeback to the promotion.
Sam Roberts Addresses Chris Jericho’s WWE Future
During the same episode of Notsam Wrestling, Sam Roberts addressed the speculations suggesting that 2026 might be Chris Jericho’s final year as an in-ring competitor.
The WWE analyst admitted that it may indeed be his last year. However, he also stated that it is still not guaranteed that the 55-year-old will retire by the end of next year.
I don’t think it’s guaranteed that 2026 will be his last year. I think it could be. But also, if he’s got two years left in him, do two years. Say what you want about Jericho, but you don’t look at him going, ‘This guy’s falling apart’ Whatever he’s doing, he’s somehow managed to maintain. And maybe it’s because he goes through these periods where he takes time off and then he comes back and he works hard. Maybe it’s staying active. Who knows? But I do think that Chris Jericho will be back in 2026. And I think it’ll be a big part of 2026. [42:29 onwards]
