5 WWE Stars Running The Gauntlet For Gunther At SummerSlam

5 WWE stars have their sights set on Gunther and the World Heavyweight Championship.

At Night of Champions, Cody Rhodes won the King of the Ring to earn a shot at the WWE Championship held by John Cena at SummerSlam. That meant World Heavyweight Champion Gunther’s dance card was empty for that major show, but he faced his own battles to make it to the biggest party of the summer with the gold still around his waist.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Gunther put his title on the line against Goldberg in a match that had been billed as Goldberg’s final bout. The Ring General proved to be too much for the WWE Hall of Famer, as he locked Goldberg in a sleeper hold and put him to sleep to retain his title.

Gunther’s Next Challenger To Be Decided On WWE Raw

But a new challenger is never far away, and now Gunther knows he’ll be defending his gold against one of five men.

WWE has announced that the July 14th edition of Raw will see CM Punk, Jey Uso, LA Knight, Penta, and Bron Breakker do battle in a gauntlet match with the winner going on to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.
