42-Year-Old Champion Open To AEW Move
A veteran wrestler is open to the idea of working for AEW in addition to commitments elsewhere in the world.
The original Mistico didn’t do very well during his WWE career as Sin Cara, but he thrived in Mexico in the past, and he is the undisputed top star of CMLL in Mexico today.
On September 19th, at CMLL 92nd Anniversario in Mexico City, Mistico beat AEW’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman in a Title vs. Mask match for the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship. It was a bloody brawl that saw Mistico apply his La Mistica armbar for the submission win.
Mistico has competed in the AEW ring and even in ROH, but he is not yet part of the roster. Since there’s a working relationship with CMLL and AEW, Mistico can appear on some of Tony Khan’s shows.
Considering Mistico’s immense talent and star power in Mexico, some fans have wondered if he could become All Elite in the future.
While speaking to Wrestlezone, Mistico made it clear he was ready to look for new opportunities.
“I’m looking for an opportunity in any promotion in the world. If I receive an opportunity, I will take it. I proved that I love Lucha Libre.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s in Mexico, London, Japan. I think that I’ve shown what I’m made of, and now I think it’s time to look for new things.”
Mistico Mentions AEW As A Potential Future Home
As he continued, Mistico mentioned that other wrestlers have double contracts, while also discussing the possibility of going to AEW or even MLW.
“If I have an opportunity for a championship in an American company, I’m going to do it in AEW and MLW with all the pleasure of the world.
“Like other teammates who have a wonderful double contract, I would like to have that kind of contract. Or also to have new rivalries with other superstars. So I’m looking for new opportunities and new challenges in my career.”
One day after MJF lost to Mistico in Mexico City, he flew to Toronto to be at AEW All Out in Toronto where Mark Briscoe beat MJF in a Tables N Tacks match.
