4-Time WWE Champion’s Move To AEW Allegedly Hurt His Career

WWE logo blur Daniel Bryan Danielson

Bryan Danielson has yet to make a TV appearance since losing his AEW World Title to Jon Moxley in October last year. And, likely, he won’t.

Danielson’s history of injuries has been a defining aspect of his wrestling career. He has also been open about his struggles, but has continued to work through the physical pains.

In several interviews leading up to his match against Moxley at WrestleDream, the former WWE star updated reporters and fans about his health. He was also transparent about his retirement with his AEW bosses and wanted to do it once he lost the title to the former WWE Shield member.

While Danielson enjoyed a decent run in AEW, some believe otherwise.

Did Moving To AEW From WWE Dent Bryan Danielson’s Career?

Former WCW wrestlers Konnan and Disco Inferno read fans’ queries on the Keepin’ It 100. One fan claimed that while Tony Khan enhanced Danielson’s bank account, joining AEW dented his legacy.

Inferno voiced similar concerns for other wrestlers joining AEW. He also disclosed that he believes the four-time WWE Champion’s stock lowered a little bit in Tony Khan’s promotion.

Nobody’s stock was raised going to AEW.. I’m not saying he (Danielson) dropped, I’m probably saying he stayed the same. Nobody’s stock is raised over there. (…) Actually, you know what? I would say his stock got lowered a little bit.

When speaking to Sean Reuter of Cageside Seats about a possible rematch with Moxley, Danielson said:

Yeah, but my neck is wrecked [laughs]. So, it’s not no chance [I’ll wrestle again], but, bu — it’s risk versus reward at this point, right? So I want to be able to live comfortably with my wife and kids. One of the things our society has a real problem with is realizing when enough is enough.

And I’m very satisfied with my career, and I think enough is enough.

Danielson’s ‘Yes! Movement’ against The Authority between 2013 and 2014 is one of the best underdog storylines in the WWE.
