4-Time WWE Champion Sidelined Indefinitely With Shoulder Injury
A former WWE Champion has received terrible news about their in-ring future.
Matt Cardona has sustained a shoulder injury that will keep him away from competition for the foreseeable future.
On the December 11 episode of TNA iMPACT, Cardona faced NXT’s Lexis King in a singles match.
Their bout came with a stipulation, with the winner gaining an advantage in the Team NXT vs. Team TNA steel cage match scheduled for the December 18 episode of the show.
The match witnessed an interference from Stacks, who won the TNA International Championship recently by defeating Steve Maclin, but Cardona hit him with Radio Silence.
The distraction enabled King to roll the former WWE champion for the win, securing Team NXT the advantage.
After the match ended, Stacks and Lexis King attacked Cardona’s injured shoulder, prompting Maclin to come for the save.
It was later revealed that due to his injury, Matt Cardona would be unable to compete in the 5-v-5 match next week. To even the odds, the TNA Director of Authority announced himself as the fifth member of Team TNA.
Here’s how the teams line up after the latest update.
Team TNA: Mike Santana, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Steve Maclin, and Santino Marella.
Team NXT: Stacks, Lexis King, Brooks Jensen, Tyson Dupont, and Tyriek Igwe.
WWE Champion Suffers Injury On SmackDown
On the December 12 episode of WWE SmackDown, Ilja Dragunov finally defended his United States Championship against Tomasso Ciampa.
Both wrestlers showed incredible chemistry, putting on a stellar fight with multiple close calls during the bout.
Ciampa constantly targeted the Mad Dragon’s surgically repaired knee to gain advantage.
One of the hard blows Ciampa landed on Dragunov seemingly landed on his nose, busting him open. The Russian athlete put on a solid front despite finding himself at a disdvantage.
In the closing minutes, he rolled up his opponent for the win.
