37-Year-Old Former WWE Star Officially Retires

A former WWE superstar is calling it a career after losing a match in TNA.

Solomon Crowe’s name may not be remembered as a legendary WWE superstar, but he spent about two years on the NXT brand from 2013 until his release in late 2015.

That was the era of NXT, where it was a new, fresh product that saw many talented wrestlers emerge and become massive stars. There were also plenty of wrestlers who came to WWE after being experienced wrestlers elsewhere, like Finn Balor, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and others.

Away from WWE, Solomon Crowe was known as Sami Callihan, who had stints in other promotions like CZW, MLW, and Lucha Underground.

Sami Callihan also had extended runs and a lot of success in TNA Wrestling (or Impact Wrestling as it was known).

During his TNA career, Callihan was a former TNA World Champion who held the gold for 79 days from October 2019 to January 2020. Callihan lost the TNA World Title to Tessa Blanchard, who is the first and only woman ever to hold the TNA World Title.

TNA Emergence Match Sees Former WWE Star Sami Callihan Retire After A Huge Loss

At the TNA Emergence PLE in Baltimore, Callihan faced popular TNA star Mike Santana in a Baltimore Street Fight. While Callihan put up a fight and nearly won the match, Santana hit Spin the Block to score the victory.

After the match, Sami Callihan took off his wrestling boots and left them in the ring, a tradition many wrestlers follow when they retire. Some fans were chanting, “Please don’t go,” but Callihan left his boots in the ring and was emotional on his knees. The fans also chanted, “Thank You Sami” for him.

After Callihan lost his match, TNA talent greeted Callihan and showed him respect. However, former World Champion Eric Young was also there and told Callihan not to fall for this because these people are phonies and they won’t care about him. Joe Hendry told Young to take it easy. Young said that this whole thing started because of Joe and told him to think about that. After Young left, Hendry hugged Callihan, and the scene ended.

Callihan has revealed in the past that after breaking his leg in 2021, it left him at less than 100 percent healthy and also caused him to gain weight, so there could be some legitimacy to his retirement as a wrestler.

Of course, since it is pro wrestling, there will be people doubting if Sami Callihan is really retired or if it’s just an angle that will lead to a character change and return for the veteran 37-year-old wrestler.
