Drew McIntyre shocked fans on Friday by winning the Undisputed WWE Championship.

After weeks of back-and-forth with Cody Rhodes, the two superstars faced off on SmackDown for a 3 Stages of Hell match, the stipulations of which were set by The Scottish Warrior.

The first fall would be contested under traditional wrestling rules. It ended inside 5 minutes after Drew hit Cody with the Claymore Kick, but not before striking him with a low blow for the advantage when the referee was distracted.

The second fall was Falls Count Anywhere, which saw the action go beyond the squared circle. MyIntyre and Rhodes fought all over the arena, taking a few bumps backstage.

One spot even saw Rhodes dive off a railing with McIntyre laid out on a table. The fall ended in The American Nightmare’s favor when he hit McIntyre with the Cross Rhodes on the commentary table.

The last fall was contested inside a steel cage. This segment witnessed severe bumps and multiple close pinfalls.

The match ended in commotion as the returning Jacob Fatu interfered by attacking Drew McIntyre. An irate Cody Rhodes confronted The Samoan Werewolf only to be attacked in retaliation.

Finding his opponent occupied, McIntyre crawled out of the cage to win his fourth major championship.

Ilja Dragunov Pitched To Be Drew McIntyre’s First Opponent Post-Title Win

As part of WWE’s Road To Royal Rumble tour, Drew McIntyre visited his home country of Scotland, where a show is scheduled on January 10 in Glasgow.

The shows of the European tour will also cover Denmark, Germany, England, Poland, Northern Ireland, and Belgium.

Elsewhere, fans have been speculating who could challenge McIntyre next for the title, and a surprising name has emerged.

Sam Roberts of Notsam Wrestling pitched 32-year-old Ilja Dragunov to take the spotlight after he recently dropped the United States Championship.

If it’s me, I mean, just, like, going off pure emotions and feelings, I’m putting Drew McIntyre and Ilja Dragunov together in that title match. [11:20 onwards]
