A former United States Champion has taken a step forward towards facing John Cena in his final WWE match.

Several years ago, Rusev had a heated feud with John Cena. It saw the Bulgarian star lose the United States Championship to the Leader of the Cenation.

Over the past few days, the 39-year-old has been vocal about wanting his revenge on The Never Seen 17. Tonight on RAW, Rusev squared off with Damian Priest in the first round of the “Last Time Is Now” tournament to determine Cena’s final opponent.

Despite The Archer of Infamy putting up a fight, the former World Heavyweight Champion fell short against the three-time United States Champion after the latter targeted his injured eyes, caused by Aleister Black on SmackDown.

John Cena Won The Intercontinental Championship On WWE RAW

Earlier on tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW, John Cena went head-to-head with Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship after the latter interrupted his promo.

The Leader of the Cenation succeeded in ending Dirty Dom’s 204-Day reign to become a Grand Slam Champion.
