A former WWE champion has expressed interest in returning to the ring.

The WWE career of former 2-time Divas Champion and 1-time NXT Women’s Champion Paige was full of ups and downs.

While Paige won the Divas Title in her main roster debut match in 2014, her in-ring career ended way too soon in late 2017 following a devastating neck injury. After staying employed by WWE until 2022, she moved on.

Saraya signed with AEW in September 2022 and had a run of over two years with the company. During her time in AEW, she returned to the ring and went on to win the AEW Women’s World Title in her home country of England.

Since departing AEW, Saraya has been a podcaster and done other things, but she hasn’t wrestled again. In an interview on the Daria & Toni Unwrapped podcast hosted by former WWE superstar Sonya Deville, Saraya expressed a desire to wrestle again.

“I do want to wrestle again. So when it comes to wrestling, and you understand this more than anybody, right, you can never fully walk away from this f**king sucker, dude.

So when it comes to…look at Ric Flair, he retired like 20 times, he’s always going to come back. You are so addicted to the feeling of wrestling, the adrenaline rush that you get. F**king…the relationships you build with the fans, you get addicted to that stuff.

And it’s something really cool that you can go in the ring and you can make people feel the way…the way you want.”

AJ Lee Helped Saraya/Paige Early In WWE Career

During the podcast, Saraya also praised AJ Lee heavily for helping her a lot early in her WWE career. When Paige debuted on the main roster in 2014, Lee was already an established star and former champion, so Lee was able to teach Saraya a lot.

“AJ’s f**king wonderful. I call her my fairy Godmother, dude. She took me under her wing, big time. I texted her the other day. We haven’t talked in a while, but when we were on the road together, we were just f**king close.

Oh yeah, she bought me Doc Martens with the Union Jack the first time I got to tour in the UK. She babied me, dude. She babied me and I just will forever be thankful for her.

She kept me normal until she left and that’s when everything f**ked up for me. (laughs) She’s the one who kept me, like, sane.”

Saraya also recently made it clear that while she is hoping for a WWE return one day, she is not begging for it or anything like that.
