3-Time WWE Champion Allegedly Facing Backstage Heat
A former champion’s booking has sparked rumors about his current WWE status.
Austin Theory joined the Stamford-based company in 2019. Although he made his main roster the following year, he briefly returned to NXT before officially moving to RAW in the 2021 WWE Draft.
Under Vince McMahon’s regime, the 28-year-old received a significant push, winning the 2022 Money in the Bank briefcase and the United States Championship. However, his push seemingly cooled down after Triple H took over.
Although Theory defeated John Cena at WrestleMania 39, his victory did not lead anywhere. He was later put into a tag team with Grayson Waller. The two held the WWE Tag Team Title for 90 days before dropping it to DIY.
Waller recently confirmed the breakup of A-Town Down Under, as Theory is currently out of action due to injury. The Australian star buried his former partner after their split, claiming he was a “dead weight.”
Wrestling Veterans Believe Austin Theory Has Backstage Problems In WWE
On a recent episode of the Keepin’ It 100 podcast, wrestling veterans Disco Inferno and Konnan discussed Austin Theory’s situation in the Stamford-based company.
The former WCW stars predicted that the former United States Champion has backstage heat.
Disco Inferno: Yeah, I would think Theory’s got heat. I don’t know that though. But that’s definitely the pattern. What do you think, Konnan? Have you heard anything?
Konnan: Same thing I think. [1:32 onwards]
