3 Obstacles Stand In The Way Of Vince McMahon Buying TNA
Vince McMahon can return to the pro-wrestling industry if he wanted to, however, whether he would be able to attain the same level success in his second run with the industry is still a question.
Recently, speculations of him wanting to buy back WWE from TKO had made the headlines, but representatives dismissed that claim. Amidst this, The Big Man launched his new venture named 14TH & I, which will essentially look into sports, entertainment, and media.
Apart from WWE, there are certain other promotions that Vince McMahon might be able to purchase, and one such being TNA.
Vince McMahon will be #3 if he buys TNA
While McMahon himself hasn’t made any such claims of wanting to buy TNA, the idea is gaining popularity among the fans. However, Dave Meltzer put out three reasons why buying the promotion will not work in The Big Man’s favor.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, he revealed that purchasing the company wasn’t the problem since it was already ready to sell to Tony Khan back in 2018 and 2019. However, there are other reasons why the purchase does not make sense.
First, he would begin behind WWE and AEW. Second, media giants would most likely not give him a platform. Finally, WWE might not collaborate with Vince McMahon via TNA either.
You could argue TNA had the infrastructure. But Vince buying a company just to be a distant #3 and losing to Tony Khan? That would happen. That’s exactly what would happen.
What TV station is going to do business with Vince right now? Maybe a small outlet, maybe. But his name is as much an albatross as it is a positive in this day and age.
Does WWE want to work with Vince McMahon at this point? I don’t know.
It remains to be seen if WWE’s former CEO manages to accumulate the funds needed to force TKO into looking at the offer or if he pursues different industries.
