24-Time WWE Champion Suffers Gruesome Injury
A legendary WWE superstar suffered a brutal injury during a recent championship match.
The Hardy Boyz duo of Matt & Jeff Hardy are still going strong after more than 30 years in the professional wrestling business.
During the WWE NXT/TNA Showdown episode of NXT on October 7th, The Hardys captured the NXT Tag Team Titles for the first time when they defeated Darkstate. It was a Winner Take All match where the Hardys had to put their TNA Tag Team Titles on the line.
Following that highly contested match, The Hardys successfully defended the TNA and NXT Tag Team Titles against Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother D-Von) at TNA Bound For Glory on October 12th.
That Hardys/Team 3D match at Bound For Glory was a Tables Match where you had to put both opponents through tables to win.
There was a spot in the match where Jeff jumped off a ladder to put D-Von through a table while they were in the aisle. It’s a famous spot that Jeff did about 25 years ago, and it has been replayed many times on WWE television shows over the years due to its spectacular appearance.
WWE Legend Jeff Hardy Was Cut Open During TNA Bound For Glory Match
While speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt revealed that his brother, former WWE World Champion Jeff Hardy, suffered a bad cut on his head after hitting that Swanton Bomb off the ladder.
“Yeah, Jeff had a big gash in the back of his head that had to be glued. They could’ve stitched it or glued it, but he did have a pretty bad cut.”
According to Matt, the reason Jeff came up a bit short with his ladder spot was to protect D-Von.
“Looking back, I think Jeff didn’t want to crush D-Von when he landed, so he came up a little short on purpose. He kind of sacrificed himself to make it easier on D-Von.” (H/T Ringsidenews)
