21-Time WWE Champion Was Fired After Asking Triple H Bold Question
A former WWE star claimed he was fired after a backstage conversation with Triple H.
Stevie Richards had brief stints in ECW and WCW before joining the Stamford-based company in 1999. Although he barely crossed paths with Triple H in the squared circle, the former Hardcore Champion has accused The Game of burying several superstars backstage over the years.
In a previous appearance on Vince Russo’s The Brand podcast, Richards claimed the current WWE Chief Content Officer had a favorite burial tactic.
We need to talk about the history of Triple H, and his viewpoint has done a 180 from when he was a worker. What was his favorite burial tactic? What did he say to Vince? What did I witness him saying to certain people about certain people, which included myself, probably? That he’s not over.
Ken Kennedy, not over. Maven, not over. Zack Ryder, not over. Now, everybody’s over. You see what I mean, because it’s under his watch. But when he was competing supposedly for spots or protecting a spot when you’re married to the boss’s daughter, but you have to protect the spot. That’s how sick it is. Nobody was ever over.
Did Triple H Play A Role In Stevie Richards’ WWE Firing?
Speaking on the Cafe de Rene podcast, Stevie Richards recalled having a backstage confrontation with Triple H before his release from the Stamford-based company.
The 21-time Hardcore Champion disclosed that he asked The Game why he was protecting a spot he would never lose. Richards added that this incident probably led to his firing.
I remember one time, and this probably got me buried, but I knew I was buried already. I asked Hunter straight to his face, ‘Why are you protecting a spot you have no chance of losing?’ I probably got released because of that, but I don’t care. It’s just like that’s the thing. Where does the paranoia or whatever demon that comes out of people when they get a belt of they get past a certain point or they’re Vince’s pet project or whatever it might be. [18:55 onwards]
