Wrestling veteran Matt Cardona (aka Zack Ryder) is open to returning to WWE.

Cardona joined the Stamford-based company in 2005 and was one of the fan favorites in the company. He spent 15 years at the company and had multiple title reigns. In 2020, he was released from his contract as part of budget cuts stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following his release from WWE, he made a name for himself in the indies as The Indy God. Cardona is very much enjoying his time on the independent circuit, but deep down inside, he still longs to be back in the place he once called home.

Zack Ryder Wants To Return To WWE

Matt Cardona recently had an interview with 1WrestlingVideo, where he was asked if he’d like to return to WWE. He stated that he’s open to the idea and is just one phone call away from making his return to the promotion.

Ryder said, “That is a great question, but just like Matt Cardona, Zack Ryder is always ready. So that if the phone rings, we’ll have a conversation.”

Cardona is currently signed with TNA. But he has made a few one-off appearances at the Stamford-based company in the past couple of months. On the October 14 episode of NXT, he had a singles match with Josh Briggs, which he lost.

Then, on the November 14 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, he made another appearance in the company, where he was revealed as LA Knight’s mystery opponent in John Cena’s “Last Time is Now” Tournament.

Just like Cardona, another TNA star, Dolph Ziggler also made his one-time return to the Stamford-based company on the November 17 edition of Monday Night RAW as Solo Sikoa’s mystery opponent in the tournament. He also lost the bout.

Following the TNA and WWE partnership, several wrestlers have moved from TNA to WWE, like Joe Hendry and Jordynne Grace. The WWE Universe was hopeful the Stamford-based company might bring back Ziggler and Cardona, but reports suggest that they’re still under TNA contracts.
