10-Time WWE Champion Confirms Retirement Is Final
Just like John Cena, this multiple-time champion in WWE has confirmed their retirement from the ring is final.
John Cena hung up his jorts at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th, pulling the curtain down on a legendary career. Cena tapped out to Gunther in his last match in a move very few people saw coming, and after the bout left his sneakers and sweatbands in the middle of the ring. Cena has been adamant that he won’t be lured back into action, and WWE is seemingly happy to let him stay true to his word.
But 2025 also saw the final match of another iconic star as The Dudley Boyz reunited for one final bout with The Hardys at TNA Bound For Glory. The match billed as One Final Table saw The Hardys retain their TNA Tag Team Championship with a win. After the bout, D-Von and Bubba Ray Dudley handed their boots to their opponents, indicating that their careers were now over.
And for one of them at least, that’s definitely the case.
WWE Hall Of Famer Not Returning To The Ring
Speaking to Denise Salcedo, D-Von Dudley explained how he was lured back into the ring by his tag team partner for that match and says at the time, he felt great:
When Bubba came back to me and told me about three years later, ‘I have an idea to do the Hardys and the Dudleys one last time,’ I jumped on it. At that particular point in time, my body felt good.
I didn’t get tired. I didn’t blow up in the ring or nothing. All eyes were on me… people were wondering, should I be back in the ring? Was I ever going to be the old D-Von again?
However, that will be it for D-Von as he feels no other match could now top what he achieved at Bound For Glory:
That was it. I don’t feel like I can go on and do another match that will top what we did at Bound for Glory. I’m not going to get any better than that.
D-Von also explained that the idea of handing their boots to their opponents was one Bubba Ray had, and it left The Hardys emotional:
No one had ever done that before… when we did that, you could hear the ‘oh’ in the audience. Even seeing Jeff start to tear up because they had no idea we were going to do that.
I saw Bubba later on that day and he goes, ‘Yeah, we’re going to do the taking off the boots.’ I was like, ‘All right, great.’ And then he goes, ‘But D-Von, we’re going to hand them to the Hardys.’ I went, ‘Wow.’ I said, ‘That’s big. We definitely got to do that.’
