News: WWE Announces Bayley Will Miss 9 Months Due to Injury, New MITB Opponent for Bianca Belair to be Announced on Smackdown
There’s sad news to report today. Bayley suffered a major injury while training. Here’s what we know courtesy of WWE on their website, who posted about it this afternoon.
Bayley out approximately nine months after sustaining injury while training
WWE Digital has learned that Bayley sustained an injury while training for her WWE Money in the Bank match against Bianca Belair and will be out approximately nine months.
A suitable replacement for the SmackDown Women’s Title Match will be announced tonight on FOX.
Tune in to SmackDown at 8/7 C and follow WWE social channels for the latest updates.
The initial report from WWE did not say what kind of injury, but nine months usually means a torn ACL in her knee.
UPDATE: Here’s what PWInsider’s Mike Johnson is reporting: “The word making the rounds is that Bayley has suffered a torn ACL. The belief is it was indeed suffered in training at the WWE Performance Center.”
TJR Thoughts: Awful news. Bayley’s an incredible wrestler that has been so durable. Injuries are part of life. Just sucks that it happened. Best wishes to Bayley. It wouldn’t shock me if we see her back on TV before she’s healed possibly as an announcer or hosting her talk show occasionally.
I’m not going to guess who the replacement is. Find out on Smackdown tonight. I will have a live review on tjrwrestling tonight.
Tune in tonight, I will be announcing @itsBayleyWWE replacement, thank you. https://t.co/FTqpzWThnw

This is so heartbreaking 💔 @itsBayleyWWE is so beloved by everyone, and will be greatly missed-both in ring and backstage. With that being said, your comeback and return await you, and I can only imagine how amazing you’ll be when that happens!#ThunderdomeMVPhttps://t.co/qNGDnD9y1M
