Report: Matt & Jeff Hardy Likely Leaving TNA Impact Wrestling

TJR Wrestling

The popular tag team duo of Matt & Jeff Hardy may be saying goodbye officially to TNA Impact Wrestling this week. According to a confirmed report from PWInsider, TNA Tag Team champions Matt and Jeff Hardy will have departed the company unless there’s a major change in the next two days.

This news comes one day after Drew Galloway tweeted that he was leaving TNA as well. TNA has several days of taping Impact starting this Thursday. This comes on the heels of new ownership taking over and Jeff Jarrett back in charge of the creative team.

More details were reported by ProWrestlingSheet as well. They noted that the Hardys originally agreed to a new deal with TNA in December, but they were not given a finalized offer. When the Hardys told TNA they wanted creative control in their new contracts, their request was shot down immediately. From there, talks continued to break down and the Hardys made it known that they will not be coming back.

The report from ProWrestlingSheet also noted that TNA Impact officials are trying to get their tag titles back since the Hardys have them.

It is not currently known if this means Matt and Jeff are heading to WWE, but it’s definitely a possibility because there have been numerous reports in the past that WWE had interest in bringing back the duo. If they do come back, will they be able to use their “Broken” gimmick or will WWE want them to be the legendary Hardy Boyz duo that the fans knew and loved throughout the 2000s. I think it would be tough to have them be the regular Hardys against because fans will chant “DELETE” at them.

This is one of those stories that is just getting started and things could get interesting in the next couple of months.
