Looking at 19 WWE Records That Were Broken in 2019 (VIDEO)

A video was posted on WWE’s Youtube channel as part of their “WWE List This” series. I don’t normally write about them, but this one was interesting. It’s a video looking at some of the records that were broken this year. Here’s a recap of the 19 records (fitting for 2019) that they came up with.

1. Charlotte Flair passed Trish Stratus to hold the most Women’s Titles in WWE history. Flair won her 8th, 9th and 10th Women’s Titles this year. Stratus had the record with seven Women’s Titles in her career.

2. Bayley became the first woman to hold the Raw Women’s Title, Smackdown Women’s Title and Women’s Tag Team Titles (with Sasha Banks), which means she was the first to complete the Women’s Title Triple Crown. Alexa Bliss did it as well when she won the Women’s Tag Team Titles with Nikki Cross.

3. Seth Rollins won the Universal Title at WrestleMania and SummerSlam. That meant he was the first superstar to win a “World Title” at WrestleMania and SummerSlam in the same year.

4. Kofi Kingston became the first superstar born in the continent of Africa to win the WWE Championship when he won the title from Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania.

5. When Dolph Ziggler lost to Kofi Kingston at the Smackville special earlier this year, Ziggler competed in his 10th televised WWE Title match. That’s the most televised opportunities without winning the title. Poor Dolph.

6. Brock Lesnar became the first superstar to win the WWE Title twice on Smackdown when he defeated Kofi Kingston to win the WWE Title in October. The first time Lesnar won the WWE Title on Smackdown was in September 2003. That was an Ironman match against Kurt Angle, which is the best match in Smackdown history in my opinion. 7. Kofi Kingston became the first WWE superstar to make it to 1000 days as a Tag Team Champion.

8. Shayna Baszler’s days as NXT Champion set a new record when she passed Asuka’s record of 522 days in November.

9. The first-ever women’s WarGames match took place in November and it was won by a team led by Rhea Ripley.

10. Ronda Rousey held the Raw Women’s Championship from SummerSlam 2018 to WrestleMania 35 for a grand total of 231 days, which broke the record held by Alexa Bliss. That record by Rousey was broken because current Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch now has the longest reign with the Raw Women’s Title. Lynch is at 242 days right now.

11. Becky Lynch won the first-ever women’s main event match at WrestleMania.

12. At Crown Jewel on October 31, Natalya and Lacey Evans became the first female superstars to compete in a match in Saudi Arabia.

13. Seth Rollins became the first superstar to win the Royal Rumble match as the #10 entrant.

14. Liv Morgan broke the record for the shortest time in the women’s Royal Rumble match at just 8 seconds. Poor Liv.

15. Nia Jax became the first superstar to compete in the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble match in the same night.

16. Jeff Jarrett competed in a match on Raw eight days after the Royal Rumble. It was his first match on Raw since September 27, 1999. That’s a record of 19 years, 4 months and 8 days since his last match on Raw. Great stat.

17. Maria Kanellis became the first pregnant champion in WWE history when she was the 24/7 Title. Now that’s a phrase I didn’t expect to write this year!

18. When the “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase bought the 24/7 Title from Madusa to become the 24/7 Champion, it meant there was the longest gap between title reigns in WWE history at 26 years when he was WWE Tag Team Champion with Irwin R. Shyster in 1993.

19. Pat Patterson became the most senior champion in WWE history by winning the 24/7 Title at 78 years old.
