Kurt Angle is one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time that has also threatened to kick WWE Chairman Vince McMahon’s ass.

When Angle was in his final year in his first WWE run in 2006, Angle was trying to get out of his WWE contract because of how difficult it was for him. Angle felt like Vince was ignoring him, so he wanted out.

The WWE Hall of Famer Angle went so far as to threaten Vince with physical violence in multiple text messages that he sent his boss.

While speaking on a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show podcast (available early and ad-free at AdFreeShows.com), Angle shared details about going face to face with Vince after he sent those threatening text messages. Vince even made Kurt read the text messages out loud.

“I’m reading the text messages, and as I’m doing it, Vince says, ‘You want to beat my ass?’ He stands up and takes his jacket off and says ‘let’s fight right now.’ I’m like, holy sh*t, my boss, the man I look up to as a father figure, wants to beat my ass. I look around the room and Shane is halfway out of his seat because if I get up, Shane is gonna jump me.”

“I was like, ‘What the hell are these?’ I’m reading them, and they say ‘Vince, I’m gonna kick your ass when I see you,’ ‘Vince if you don’t call me back, I’m gonna beat the sh*t out of you,’ all these threats.”

This was in 2006, which was shortly before Angle left WWE due to struggling with drug addiction. Angle’s first run in WWE lasted from Survivor Series 1999 until August 2006 when he was part of the ECW brand. WWE wanted Angle to go to rehab for his issues, Angle refused and he was granted his release. Two months later in October 2006, Angle began his run in TNA Wrestling that lasted longer than his WWE career.

In a more comical incident, Angle and Vince playfully wrestled on WWE’s “Plane Ride From Hell” in May 2002. While the two men were tussling, The Undertaker woke up from a nap on the plane and even choked Angle until he was told it was just a fun fight.

Following Angle’s decade-long run in TNA/Impact Wrestling, he returned to WWE to be inducted in the 2017 Hall of Fame, he wrestled some matches, he was the General Manager of Raw, and then he retired at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.
