TJR: 3 Reasons Why Brock Lesnar Should Beat John Cena At WWE Wrestlepalooza
Making the case for Brock Lesnar to beat John Cena in their WWE Wrestlepalooza showdown.
One of the big matches at WWE Wrestlepalooza on September 20th will be between future WWE Hall of Famers, John Cena and Brock Lesnar. During their two interactions over the last month, Lesnar has stood tall after doing cheap attacks when Cena wasn’t ready for him.
The two WWE legends are both 48 years old. They debuted on the main roster in 2002 and started training in 2000 at OVW, which was WWE’s developmental home in that era. There’s a long history between Lesnar and Cena, so going into their likely final match, there is a lot of anticipation for the match.
Who should win at Wrestlepalooza? I say Brock Lesnar should, and I’ll give you three reasons why.
3. Brock Lesnar Hasn’t Won A WWE Match In Over Two Years

This match with John Cena will be Brock Lesnar’s first singles match in a WWE ring in over two years, since he lost to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023. After the match, Lesnar broke character by shaking hands and hugging Cody as a sign of respect. It’s not something Lesnar usually does, so it meant a lot when he did it.
When was the last time Lesnar actually won a match? That was Night of Champions 2023 when he beat Cody Rhodes. That was the second of their three matches during a rivalry where Lesnar was put in a position where Cody beating him felt like a big deal because of Lesnar’s place as an all-time great in WWE history.
If Brock Lesnar were to lose his first WWE match in two years, then it would make him look like he’s past his prime and that he’s not the threat that he should be booked as. If he wins over Cena then he looks like the same Lesnar that we have known for 20+ – a killer and one of the most dangerous men in WWE.
2. Putting Brock Lesnar Over Is Better For WWE’s Future

I think you must think about the future when it comes to a match like this. Cena only has a handful of matches left, so he doesn’t “need” to win any of them. That’s pro wrestling, my friends. The guys who are on the way out, whether by leaving or retirement, should do the job as they leave.
If Brock Lesnar is going to keep wrestling after 2025, then he absolutely needs to beat the guy who is calling it a career. Simply put, Lesnar will be around in the future, and Cena won’t be, so that’s why it makes more sense for Lesnar to win.
Think about the future. At WrestleMania 42 next year, maybe WWE will want Brock Lesnar against a rising star like Paul Heyman’s new “Next Big Thing” Bron Breakker or maybe the NXT Champion Oba Femi, so then whenever Lesnar loses to a younger wrestler like that, it will mean that much more because Lesnar beat a guy like Cena.
1. Win Or Lose, The Fans Will Still Love John Cena On His Way Out Of WWE

Since John Cena returned to his babyface role on the SmackDown before SummerSlam, WWE fans have fallen in love with him again. John Cena received massive reactions in major cities like Montreal, Paris, and Chicago this past Friday on SmackDown.
Whether Cena wins or loses against Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza, the fans will still support him and be by his side, as they consider him the Greatest of All Time in WWE. I know that not everybody feels that way, but a lot of fans do, and we know WWE loves saying it.
If you think about it from a booking standpoint, the WWE creative team has to know that at this point, with only a handful of matches left in Cena’s career, the WWE fans don’t care if he wins or loses any match he has.
