Brock Lesnar Returns To WWE Raw Next Week In Atlanta, Georiga

TJR Wrestling

Former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar will make his return to WWE television next week when Raw comes to the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. It was announced during last night’s edition of Raw. Since Lesnar’s been away from WWE, he’s been drafted to Raw and is scheduled to compete against Smackdown Superstar Randy Orton at SummerSlam on August 21.

However, the bigger Lesnar story is outside of WWE. Lesnar returned to UFC’s octagon on July 9, for the first time in five years, and defeated UFC veteran and #8 ranked Heavyweight Mark Hunt. After the fight, it was revealed that Lesnar failed two UFC drug tests that detected Lesnar’s use of a banned substance, a substance he was on during his fight with Mark Hunt. Although this news could suspend Lesnar from the UFC for two years, it doesn’t have any effect on his WWE status.

Lesnar’s SummerSlam opponent, Randy Orton, returned to WWE after a shoulder injury and subsequent surgery kept him on the shelf for nine months. He returned this past Sunday at Battleground as a guest on Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel. During this segment, Orton said “it takes 20 suplexes to get to Suplex City, but it only takes one RKO to get to Viperville… no enhancement needed.”

Mark’s reaction: On last night’s Raw, Michael Cole speculated if Lesnar would respond to Orton’s comments at Battleground. It should be interesting to see if Lesnar responds to Orton’s “no enhancement needed” comment. It also should be interesting to see if Lesnar returns to Raw next week on his own. It’s been reported that Paul Heyman’s WWE contract has expired and that both parties have yet to come to an agreement on a renewal. I feel confident that Heyman will be back in WWE soon, but hopefully it gets done by next week’s Raw because I’d love to see Heyman address all the Lesnar drug test news and comments.
