Bray Wyatt Says WWE “Doesn’t Know How To Use What We (The Wyatt Family) Are” & Much More

TJR Wrestling

Bray Wyatt was recently a guest on Sam Roberts’ Wrestling Podcast. It was over WrestleMania weekend and Wyatt discussed various topics, including: WWE not knowing how to use The Wyatt Family, developing the Bray Wyatt character after his failed Husky Harris persona, missing Luke Harper, his idea for an “army of Wyatts” and eventually facing Brock Lesnar.

WWE not knowing how to use The Wyatt Family

“I don’t think, when we set out and finally got the call up, I don’t know if [WWE] really understood what they had. Like, we knew the NXT crowd had responded so well to us and they kind of like attached themselves to us and when we came up here [to WWE’s main roster], we, never in a million years, thought it was going to explode the way it did. And it did. It exploded. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it was just that kind of thing, the right place at the right time. And we were so different, man. We were so different that I don’t think the company knew even how to use us. ‘What are these things?’ Like, we were so different and in the promos [and] so different in the way we looked and how we moved. We were big and we would fly and do all this crazy stuff. Like, I don’t think anyone expected us to be so complete. And they still don’t know how to use what we are.”

Creating Bray Wyatt out of the failure of Husky Harris

“In the beginning, where all of this came from, is when I thrown away like a piece of trash, like, years and years ago. I’m sure you can figure out what I’m talking about. I was thrown away like a piece of trash and instead of feeling sorry for myself, which is very like me to do, I would imagine, I got so angry and so frustrated at the world and the end has come to everything around me that, like, that’s where this all came from. And it’s almost like I need, I need these valleys, yeah, because they help me create.”

Missing Luke Harper & his idea for an “army of Wyatts”

“Without him it’s so weird because it [has] never been without him. He’s my captain. It was mine and his before [Eric] Rowan and Braun [Strowman] were ever involved. And it’s going to be hard. But [when] a soldier falls and drops his flag, the next soldier comes by [and] picks it up. Hopefully, we’ll get more Wyatts. They can’t replace Harper. That’s impossible, but just an army of Wyatts. We never need to have any titles. We never need to feud with anyone. We should just come out every show, just 20 Wyatts and just mutilate someone for no reason because that’s who we are.”

Facing Brock Lesnar down the road

“Me and Brock Lesnar are going to meet. And this is the only way I can put this, me and Brock Lesnar will meet down the line. It will mean something and I’m going to give him my soul and my body, and, hopefully, he doesn’t kill me, but if he does, then, so be it. That’s as much as I can give there. I’ve been beaten up quite a bit this past year. We all have. It [has] been a rough year as far as the curse of the injury, but I’m still ticking, barely, but I’m still here. I’m still alive.”

Mark’s reaction: I thought this was a very interesting Bray Wyatt interview. He’s definitely correct in that WWE doesn’t know how to use The Wyatt Family. I feel that WWE’s very close in figuring them out, but the few problems are big ones that hurt the faction as a whole. After this week’s edition of Raw, it looks like The Wyatt Family will be faces which I’m definitely all for. I understand that there are already a lot of faces in WWE and they need more heels. However, I feel like there are plenty of guys who are faces that should really be heels. Maybe when the Bullet Club/Balor Club shows up they’re heels. I don’t know, but I think The Rock pretty much hit the nail on the head at WrestleMania 32. People want to cheer for The Wyatt’s. They throw they’re flashlights up every time they make their entrance. It’s exciting when they come out. Maybe this face turn could be the spark they need.
