Backstage News On Why WWE Hasn’t Called Up Bayley To Main Roster Yet (Plus TJR Thoughts)

In terms of NXT talent that is ready to go to the main roster, Bayley is at the top of the list. There really isn’t much more she can do in NXT since she has been there for several years, is a polished in-ring performer, has a great act that connects with the crowd and has been NXT Women’s Champion already. So why isn’t she on the main roster?

According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer, the reason Bayley is still in NXT is because they don’t have a female babyface star that could replace her on the NXT brand. Meltzer went on to theorize that WWE may have a tough time keeping her character fresh

TJR Thoughts: That’s one of those reasons that actually makes sense because there is definitely a lack of women babyfaces on the NXT brand after her. I don’t know if that’s a good reason to keep her in NXT for much longer, though. She’s clearly ready for the main roster, fans have been singing songs about her on main roster shows and I get the sense that when she is on the main roster she will be “over” with the crowd pretty quickly.

I still think it’s just a matter of waiting for the right time. It would be stupid to bring her up without having an angle for her. They already have enough women that they keep on the sidelines without any storyline. If Sasha Banks is the one to beat Charlotte for the Women’s Title let’s say at SummerSlam then maybe call up Bayley the next night because it was SummerSlam weekend last year when they had that classic NXT Brooklyn match that was, in my opinion, the best women’s match in WWE history.

I’d be shocked if Bayley isn’t on the main roster this year. It’s a question of “when” not “if” at this point.
