Alberto Del Rio – AAA Vice President Comments On Del Rio Holding Titles In AAA & WWE
As witnessed last night, Alberto Del Rio made a triumphant return to WWE by not only answering John Cena’s US Title Open Challenge, but conquering Cena and becoming the new US Champion. Some of may know that Del Rio is also the AAA (Asistencia Asesoria y Administracion) Mega Champion or the AAA World Heavyweight Champion.
Vice President of AAA, Dorian Roldan Pena commented on Twitter immediately following Del Rio’s victory over Cena, and said “there will be more news soon”. The tweet is below and translates as “And now @VivaDelRio is champion @WWE and @uchalibreaaa . More news soon!”

Ski’s Take – I think I can safely say that even if I was offered ADR in the works sweepstake, I wouldn’t have expected him to re-debut, let alone defeat Cena for the US Championship. The reaction from the crowd was tremendous (as was mine, although I’m not sure my sleeping wife and children appreciated it), and goes to show that Alberto is still a huge star in the wrestling world and carries a lot of weight in the industry.
With the VP of AAA cryptically tweeting that there will be more news soon, I’m leading towards another WWE/EVOLVE kind of partnership. Vince has wanted a major presence in Mexico for quite some time, and by burying the hatchet with Del Rio, he may have made an in road into the country.
With Cena taking his expected time off, is Alberto going to step into his shoes and help steer the company through the hard times of the declining ratings? Will he carry on with the super babyface role that Cena has been in, or will he go back to being the pretentious heel that he’s obviously better in? Who knows, but one thing’s for sure, this is one of two moments from last night, that has made watching Raw tonight a must see for me!
